Publishing Contest:
The 2012 Book Prize submissions deadline is July 1, 2012. Manuscripts will be accepted from June 1, 2012, and the postmark deadline is July 1, 2012. The prize is a paperback or ebook, at the discretion of the competition, with royalties of 50% of net.
If submissions justify awarding a book prize in more than one genre, that may be done in poetry, fiction, non-fiction, script, collection by a single author, and/or MA/MFA/MS thesis. An author may win only one prize through this competition. Since poetry does not convert well to ebook format, poetry would only be published in the paperback format. Honorable mention ranked manuscripts will be offered excerpt publication.
Manuscripts may be 40-100 pages in length, use a 12 point font, must have 1" margins, and must be paginated. Secure with either a paperclip or spring clip. Materials must be created by the applicant (18 years old or older), and the submitted manuscript must not have been published previously. Enclose a cover page with name, manuscript title, genre, and contact information. Only manuscripts with SASE will be returned after consideration.
Every entrant will receive one copy. The entry fee is $15. payable to Maryland Editors and Writers (MDEW):
